San Juan Island Fire & Rescue is now accepting applications from the community for the upcoming 2023 EMT Course.

San Juan Island Fire & Rescue would like to express gratitude to emergency responders and the wider community in the aftermath of the April 7 fire downtown.

San Juan Island Fire and Rescue, Town of Friday Harbor, and San Juan County Sheriff’s Office (SJCSO) are at a point in the investigation and recovery of the recent fire on Spring Street to share fire origin and cause.

SJIF&R and the San Juan Island Firefighters Association will host the annual Easter Egg Event this Sunday, April 17th from Noon to 2:00 p.m.

San Juan Island Fire & Rescue will be conducting a training on March 26th and 27th. Exercises are planned to occur between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m on both days.

On Friday afternoon, March 11, 2022, San Juan Island Fire and Rescue (SJIF&R) crews received a page from a 911 call regarding reports of fire at a home in the Town of Friday Harbor.

In the 17th Century, English poet John Donne wrote a famous phrase stating that, “No man is an island.” While we live in the San Juan Islands, it is always important to know that no one is an island and we are not alone.

Emergency medical services (EMS) is a component of the emergency service system. As a system, none of these component services stand alone. They must be fully linked to operate effectively and efficiently. SJIF&R is the largest EMS agency in the district, and one of six in the county.

Or, why do fire engines go to calls where there’s no fire? We get this question a lot. To say it is the national standard, which it is, is too quick an answer to a good question. So, let’s dive into this a bit more.
